There is a significant number of Camps that serve the Special Needs Community of youngsters and adults. They vary in the degree of special needs. Some camps specialize in children/adults who are on the Autistic Spectrum but are high functioning. Others serve communities with a wide range of disabilities and needs, including social issues, physically/mentally challenged, and learning disabled. There are camps for children/adults with debilitating illnesses such as cancer. Some Camps require full care by counselors and specialists. Working in a Special Needs Camp is challenging and rewarding. Make no mistake it is hard work. But at the end of the experience all of the staff leave camp with a sense of satisfaction and success that cannot be matched. These camps have extensive training programs that are ongoing during the summer. Many of the individuals who choose to work in a special needs camp find a career path for a lifetime.
